ZSI Workshop on ‘Science and Technology for a Greener Future’ Concludes

The two-day workshop on ‘Science and Technology for a Greener Future’, organised by the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre, concluded on Saturday with active participation from students, teachers and trainees across the Islands.

The workshop featured eight expert lectures delivered by eminent scientists and academicians, focusing on diverse themes related to science, technology and sustainability. In addition to the lectures, the programme included dedicated sessions on skill development and capacity building aimed at fostering scientific temper and environmental awareness among participants.

A total of 76 participants attended the workshop, including students and teachers from various schools and colleges such as Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Government Boys’ Senior Secondary School, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Kamaraj English Medium School, Sagritara School, Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Andaman College (ANCOL), Andaman Law College, and Pondicherry University. Trainees of the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) also took part in the event.

Addressing the valedictory session, Dr. Dinesh Kannan, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Department of Environment and Forests, A&N Islands, stated that such programmes not only provide answers but also encourage participants to think critically and cultivate a deeper interest in scientific and environmental issues.

Earlier, Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Scientist-F and Officer-in-Charge, ZSI, A&N Islands, highlighted that the workshop over the past two days successfully brought together experts and young learners to deliberate on innovative approaches and scientific advancements essential for building a sustainable and greener future.
