In a successful joint operation conducted by the Police and Forest officials of Mayabunder, a significant breakthrough was achieved with the seizure of 2.100 kilograms of meat suspected to be from protected wildlife. The operation took place in the area of Tugapur, Mayabunder, marking a crucial step in the fight against wildlife crime.
The collaborative effort, aimed at combating illegal activities threatening biodiversity, resulted in the discovery of the illicit meat stored in a refrigerator behind the residence of Sukanto Mistry. Upon interrogation, Sukanto Mistry, son of Late Arbindo Mistry and a resident of Tugapur No.7, confessed to his involvement in the unlawful act.
The seized meat, suspected to be from protected wildlife, was confiscated in accordance with legal procedures. The accused was apprehended by forest officials in the presence of the Police, emphasising the commitment to enforcing strict measures against activities detrimental to natural resources.
The N&MA District Police and Forest officials reiterated their vigilance in combating wildlife crime and ensuring the preservation of biodiversity in the region. They urged the public to report any credible information regarding crimes or illegal activities to the nearest Police Station or through phone numbers 100, 112, and 03192-273344. Informers can rest assured that their identities will be kept confidential, and they may also receive suitable rewards for their assistance.
