The State Bank of India (SBI) and Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Sri Vijaya Puram, jointly conducted a series of financial literacy sessions on 26th June 2025 for staff and community cadres of the DAY-NRLM, including members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The sessions were held as part of the ongoing Orientation-cum-Assessment programme organized by the Directorate of Rural Development, PRIs & ULBs, A&N Administration at Marine Hill.

Conducted in four batches, the sessions aimed to enhance awareness on essential financial practices such as saving, investing, debt management, and financial planning. Participants were also briefed on various government schemes offering credit facilities for small businesses, along with social security schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and the Atal Pension Yojana. Detailed guidance on application procedures and claim processes for these schemes was also provided.

The SBI officials addressed queries raised by participants regarding challenges in account opening and accessing bank or credit linkages. Specific concerns of SHG members related to loan applications were clarified, with practical advice offered on proper documentation and procedures.

The Director of RSETI encouraged SHG members to take advantage of various training programs offered by the institute to build sustainable livelihoods. He assured that RSETI would support trained individuals in accessing bank linkages to start their enterprises.

SBI officials further assured that financial literacy camps would be conducted regularly at the Block and Gram Panchayat levels to strengthen institutional understanding among SHGs and promote access to financial opportunities.
