A new Health Sub-Centre was inaugurated at Shanti Nagar by Mr. Kamleshwar Rao S, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, in the presence of the Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti Diglipur, Chief Medical Officer, Sub-District Hospital Diglipur, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Gandhinagar, and local residents.
Addressing the gathering, the Assistant Commissioner emphasized that the Andaman & Nicobar Administration is committed to expanding healthcare infrastructure in rural and remote areas to ensure essential medical services reach the last mile. He urged villagers to make full use of the new facility and assured continued support for improving healthcare delivery in the region. It may be recalled that Shanti Nagar was recently connected by an STS bus service in July, further enhancing accessibility for residents.
The Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti Diglipur and the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Gandhinagar noted that the Health Sub-Centre will significantly reduce travel time for villagers seeking medical attention and will promote preventive healthcare practices in the community.
The newly established Health Sub-Centre aims to strengthen primary healthcare delivery by offering services such as maternal and child care, immunization, basic treatment, and preventive health education. It will cater to the needs of households in and around Shanti Nagar, providing timely and accessible medical support.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shalini Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Sub-District Hospital Diglipur, who appreciated the cooperation of the local community in making the project a success. (Story Based on PR)
