Divya Kala Mela Organised for Children with Special Needs at Car Nicobar

The Block Project Office (BPO), Car Nicobar successfully organised Divya Kala Mela and Divya Kala Shakti for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) under the Inclusive Education Programme of Samagra Shiksha on December 22, 2025, at Bal Bhavan, GMPS Kinyuka.

The programme was graced by Mr. Derick Jacob, First Headman of Kinyuka Village, Car Nicobar, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Sambhu Nath Kundu, Assistant Engineer (ALHW), attended as the Special Guest.

The event began with a welcome address by Mr. Swapan Paik, Education Officer, Car Nicobar, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, parents, teachers, officials and students. In his address, he underscored the importance of inclusive education and the need to ensure equal opportunities for Children with Special Needs.

As part of the mela, several stalls were set up showcasing Nicobari local cuisine, along with displays of 2D and 3D models, art and craft items, paintings and Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs). Assistive devices used in the resource room for teaching CwSN were also exhibited, creating awareness about inclusive teaching practices and supportive learning tools.

The programme provided a vibrant platform for Children with Special Needs to showcase their talents, creativity and cultural skills through various activities and exhibitions. The event highlighted the abilities, confidence and potential of CwSN while promoting values of inclusion, dignity and equal participation.

Teachers, parents, CRC coordinators and education officials actively supported and encouraged the children throughout the programme, creating an atmosphere of joy, motivation and awareness on the importance of inclusive education and community participation.

The Block Project Office, Car Nicobar expressed sincere appreciation to all stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment in making Divya Kala Mela and Divya Kala Shakti a meaningful and memorable celebration of inclusion and empowerment of Children with Special Needs.
