Nayi Chetna 2.0: Awareness Programme on Gender Discrimination and Violence Held at Manglutan

An awareness programme on gender discrimination and gender-based violence was organised at the Community Hall, Manglutan on February 20 by the Rosary Village Organization in collaboration with Community Resource Persons (CRPs) under the CD Block Ferrargunj. The programme was conducted as part of the nationwide Nayi Chetna 2.0 campaign initiated by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

The session focused on key issues relating to gender justice and safety, including understanding various forms of violence across different life stages and social contexts, encouraging the reporting of gender-based violence, provisions under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, and domestic violence affecting women, men and children.

Resource persons from various departments and organisations addressed the gathering and elaborated on legal safeguards and support systems available to victims. Ms. Meenal, Counsellor at the One Stop Centre under the Directorate of Social Welfare (DSW), spoke about counselling services and assistance mechanisms for survivors. SI Ajitabh Kumar from Police Station Humfrygunj highlighted the role of police in handling complaints and ensuring timely intervention. Mr. Vijay Kumar, representative of Prayas NGO, and Ms. Leela Krishna, Cluster Coordinator, CD Block Ferrargunj, also conducted sessions on different aspects of gender sensitisation and community responsibility.

Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions, raising queries related to complaint procedures, legal remedies and available support services. The organisers stated that the programme aimed to strengthen awareness at the grassroots level and promote a safe and inclusive environment within the community.
