The Public Health Engineering Division (PHED) of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) organized a Water Concert at Bathubasti Ground on March 3 with the aim of creating awareness among the public about the importance of water conservation and the responsible use of water resources.

The event was held as part of the Administration’s ongoing awareness campaign to sensitize residents about the urgent need to conserve water, especially considering the limited freshwater resources available in the islands. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public and served as an engaging platform to spread the message of saving water.

A variety of cultural programmes were presented during the event, all centered on the theme of water conservation. Local artists performed dances, songs and a puppet show, effectively conveying the importance of preventing water wastage and encouraging responsible water use. The performances highlighted simple yet impactful practices that individuals can adopt in their daily lives to conserve this precious natural resource.

During the programme, officials also shared the toll-free helpline numbers 18003451666 and 03192-251185 with the public. Residents were encouraged to use these numbers to report water supply issues, leakages or other water-related complaints so that prompt action can be taken by the concerned authorities.

A signature campaign was also organized on the occasion, where participants pledged their commitment to water conservation by signing a pledge board. The initiative saw active participation from members of the public, reflecting their collective responsibility towards protecting water resources.

The programme concluded with all participants taking a pledge to conserve water and work together to ensure the availability of this vital resource for future generations.

The event was attended by a large gathering that included government officials, public representatives and members of the general public.
