To extend and improve the internet services in remote islands, BSNL A&N has launched 3G Mobile services at the remote Teressa Island on 22nd June 2022. The population of Teressa is now able to use mobile data services at an appreciable speed. Earlier the residents of Teressa only had the option of using 2G Mobile services. BSNL is the sole mobile operator having its presence in Teressa Island.
The Chief General Manager, BSNL, A & N Telecom Circle, Mr. G Raja Ram Mohan during the launch of 3G Mobile data services at Teressa Island made a few Video calls through Whatsapp to the staff of BSNL at Teressa and appreciated their efforts in launching the services, Mr. Mohan expressed his sincere thanks to A&N Administration in extending all support for commissioning of the 3G Mobile services in the remote island. He also thanked BSNL Co & BSNL CNTX(South) for timely augmenting the satellite bandwidth at Teressa as without it , it wouldn’t have been possible to commission the 3G services. Teressa is not yet connected through the CANI submarine Cable.
The Chief General Manager, BSNL, A&N Telecom Circle, also informed, that to bridge the digital divide in these islands, BSNL has recently launched the most economical FTTH Plan in A & N Islands with a monthly rental of just Rs 499/-. He added that the Rs. 499/- plan would be beneficial for new prospective customers, particularly from the rural areas. The CGM also informed that the existing FTTH customers are being offered more data usage (upto 60 % more) & higher internet speed (upto 60 % higher) since 1st June 2022. Customers interested in the Migration of their existing copper broadband to FTTH are also being offered a rebate of Rs 200 per month for 6 months.
In addition to the above BSNL A&N offers 10% discount on monthly bills of FTTH / Air Fiber and copper broadband connections in the name of any Government Servant ( A&N UT, Central, PSU, Banks etc: working or retired government servants.). This applies to existing and new customers.
