An awareness programme on Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was conducted for the students of the 2018 batch of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences. The orientation session was carried out by Mr. R. Vivek, IEC Manager, State Health Agency, ANI to sensitize the students about the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The students were briefed about the benefits, eligibility criteria and operational aspects of the scheme.
The resource person also addressed the queries raised by the students about the scheme and exhorted the students to disseminate the information in the community. The use of the web portal https://aapkedwarayushman.pmjay.gov.in was also explained which can be used by any citizen to see the list of eligible PMJAY beneficiaries of any geographical area.
At present, 12,890 families (40,517 members) have registered under the AB-PMJAY scheme in this UT. The registered beneficiaries are entitled to a cashless treatment worth INR 5 lakh per family per year against secondary and tertiary hospitalisation care at 28,000 empanelled public and private hospitals across the country.
