Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has ordered for grant of 1/30th of minimum pay plus dearness allowances to all the remaining left out Daily Rated Workers as a one-time measure who have been engaged for regular nature of work but not against any sanctioned post (other than DRMs engaged on a seasonal basis like Forest Department) and working under various departments, organizations and autonomous bodies of Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
Several Conditions have been specified for the grant of the benefit of 1/30th of minimum pay plus DA.
One of the conditions is that the grant of the enhanced wages shall not in any way be construed as a right or claim for the regularisation of service of DRMs.
Another condition specified is that to rationalize the workforce and curtail unnecessary financial burden on the Government, henceforth, fresh DRMs even against the existing slots of DRMs who have since left, shall not be engaged by any Department on its level.
Another condition specified is that all departments, organizations, and autonomous bodies under A & N Administration shall expedite the filling up of their regular vacant posts through an open and transparent process as mandated under the law and relevant Recruitment Rules.
The enhanced wages shall be applicable from the date of the issue of the order i.e. 9th May 2023.
