Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), held a crucial meeting with the Chief Secretary (In-charge), Ms. Nandini Palliwal, on October 13, 2023, to discuss two pressing concerns affecting the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Accompanied by office bearers of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Mr. Vishal Jolly visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) Girls Hostel in the presence of the Principal and other officials. During the visit, Mr. Jolly closely examined the conditions at the hostel and expressed his belief that the students’ demands were not only reasonable but also justified.
At the meeting, Mr. Jolly presented a comprehensive overview of the ongoing protests and the specific demands made by the JNRM girls and students. He highlighted the numerous problems and difficulties faced by the girl students due to lack of hostel accommodation. Mr. Jolly stressed the importance of addressing these issues promptly and urged the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to take their concerns seriously.
In response, Ms. Nandini Palliwal acknowledged the demands put forth by the students and assured that the repair work on the old hostel buildings was already underway. Additionally, she mentioned that the construction of a new building for the hostel was in progress. Ms. Palliwal assured that both the renovation and construction work would be completed within 10-15 days, effectively resolving the current issues.
The meeting also touched upon the transportation of crucial supplies to the North & Middle Andaman District. Ms. Palliwal assured Mr. Jolly that the administration would take all necessary steps to ensure the uninterrupted supply of petrol, high-speed diesel (HSD), LPG gas cylinders, and other essential commodities to the North & Middle Andaman District.
