Secretary IP&T while addressing the press at the Media Briefing on COVID-19 today informed that Andaman and Nicobar Administration has decided to impose complete lockdown in South Andaman District from 24th of May 2021.
He also stated that the modalities and protocols of the lockdown is being worked upon and orders will be issued soon. Secretary IP&T also urged the residents on not to overstock on any commodities.
He also informed the press that inspite of the best efforts of the A & N Administration the number of cases have not come down as it was expected. He added that administration after considering all options are left with just one i.e. to impose complete lockdown in South Andaman District.
He specifically mentioned that the lockdown for now is only being imposed in South Andaman District and not on North & Middle or Nicobar District.
