15000+ A & N Islands Farmers Received PM Kisan Income Support in 2020-21

15388 farmers of Andaman and Nicobar Islands received the instalment of PM-Kisan Income Support from Govt. of India for January 2021 to March 2021. The number of farmer beneficiaries for August 2020 to December 2020 instalment was 15,969 and for April 2020 to July 2020 was 16,167.

₹3.0776 Crores was directly transferred to the bank accounts of the farmer beneficiaries through Public Financial Management System for January 2021 to March 2021 instalment. ₹3.1938 Crores were transferred for August 2020 to December 2020 instalment and ₹3.2334 Crores were transferred for April 2020 to July 2020 Instalment. 

PM Kisan is a Central Sector Scheme with 100% funding from the Govt. of India. The scheme was made operational from 01/12/2018.

Under the scheme, income support of ₹6000/- per year in three equal instalments is given to small and marginal farmer families with combined land holding/ownership of upto 2 hectares.

According to the data published by the Agriculture Department in BCSS Analysis Report the number of farmer beneficiaries who received the instalment decreased considerably from the first to the third instalment in the year 2020-21. The first instalment for the year 2020-21 for the months April 2020 to July 2020 was transferred to the bank accounts of 16167 beneficiaries. The second instalment was transferred to the bank accounts of 15969 beneficiaries, whereas the third instalment was transferred to the bank accounts of just 15388 beneficiaries.   

In 2019-20 the trend was different where the first instalment was transferred to the bank accounts of 15,891 beneficiaries, the second instalment to the bank accounts of 16466 beneficiaries whereas the third instalment to the bank accounts of 16269 beneficiaries. 

The income support provided to the small and marginal farmer families through PM Kisan has helped many farmers throughout the country.
