The Passing Out Parade of the 75th batch of Recruit Police Constables (Executive) was held at the Police Training School, Prothrapur—recently renamed as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Police Training Institute—on Thursday, marking the successful completion of training of 30 recruits.

The ceremony marked the culmination of several months of rigorous training designed to equip the recruits with physical endurance, legal knowledge, technical skills and ethical values required for modern policing. The newly inducted constables are now ready to serve the citizens of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with discipline, professionalism and integrity.

Ms. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Training), Andaman and Nicobar Police, graced the occasion as the chief guest. She took the ceremonial salute and inspected the parade, commending the recruits for their impressive turnout, precision in drill and disciplined performance during the parade.

Addressing the recruits, Ms. Verma congratulated them on successfully completing their training and reminded them of the responsibilities entrusted upon them as members of the police force. She emphasised that policing is not limited to enforcing the law but also involves maintaining public trust, ensuring safety and serving society with compassion and fairness.

She also highlighted the significance of the new criminal laws implemented from July 1, 2024, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which introduced key reforms in the criminal justice system. She urged the newly inducted constables to remain updated with these legal changes and perform their duties with professionalism, integrity and accountability while adopting a people-centric approach to policing.

During the ceremony, the Oath of Service was administered by Mr. Uma Shankar, DANIPS, Principal of the Police Training Institute, in the presence of the chief guest and Dr. A. Koan, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Training). The oath symbolised the recruits’ commitment to uphold the Constitution, enforce the law impartially and serve the nation with honour and dedication.

Degree and diploma certificates of Rashtriya Raksha University under the Ministry of Home Affairs were also awarded to the trainees in recognition of their academic and professional achievements during the course.

Several recruits were honoured with commendation certificates, trophies and cash rewards sanctioned by the Director General of Police, A&N Islands, for their outstanding performance during training. RPC/1686 Ablin Soreng was adjudged the All-Round Best Trainee and also secured second position in indoor subjects along with the Best in Drill award. RPC/1664 R. Ompriya received the award for Best in Indoor Subjects, while RPC/579 Pankaj Jakhar was recognised for Best in Outdoor Training. RPC/1471 S. Madhu was awarded Best in Computer, RPC/1466 Sujan Das for Best in Unarmed Combat and RPC/2275 Sanjay Toppo for Best in Firing.

The parade concluded with the newly inducted constables marching off the parade ground with pride and confidence as they begin their careers in safeguarding the lives and property of the people.

The event was attended by senior officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Police, instructors of the training institute and family members of the recruits. The institute continues to play a vital role in shaping disciplined and capable police personnel through structured training, academic learning and practical exposure to meet the evolving challenges of modern policing in the islands.
