In a pioneering move towards modernizing evidence management, the Andaman & Nicobar Police has taken a significant leap by introducing the E-Malkhana at PS Humfrigunj in South Andaman District, featuring innovative QR code technology. This groundbreaking initiative aims to enhance professionalism and cleanliness in evidence handling and storage.
The launch, presided over by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, I/c DGP, A&N Islands, in the presence of key officials including Mr. Kalaivanan R, IPS, SP South Andaman, Mr. Arshdeep Singh Panwar, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat, and SHO SI Mohan Rao, marks a progressive shift in evidence management methodologies. Under the guidance of Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS DIGP (L&O) this initiative is set to redefine the traditional approach to evidence storage.
The introduction of the E-Malkhana system not only signifies a leap towards efficiency and transparency but also brings an aesthetic appeal to the evidence and property storage. A total of 383 case properties have been seamlessly integrated with QR codes and systematically stored at the E-Malkhana room of PS Humfrigunj, categorised year-wise for convenient retrieval.
Key Highlights of the E-Malkhana Launch:
1. Pristine White Packaging: The initiative embraces a visually appealing approach with case properties now elegantly packed in white bags, reflecting a commitment to cleanliness and professionalism.
2. QR Code Integration: Each white bag features a unique QR code, facilitating swift and convenient scanning. This integration streamlines tracking and retrieval processes, ensuring an organized Malkhana environment.
3. Enhanced Security Measures: The implementation of QR codes adds an extra layer of security, granting authorised personnel swift access while maintaining strict control over item retrieval, thus preserving the evidence’s integrity.
4. Efficiency in Retrieval: The QR codes enable officers to retrieve case properties rapidly and accurately, crucial for law enforcement operations, fostering faster decision-making and responses.
During the launch event, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, emphasised the importance of integrating technological advancements with a visually appealing and organised Malakhana.
The South Andaman District Police encourages community support for these advancements, underscoring their commitment to adapting to modern methodologies while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and efficiency.
