The Grand Finale of the DGP Cup T-20 State Level League-cum-Knockout Cricket Tournament (Season–3) 2025–2026, organized by the Andaman and Nicobar Police, was held at Netaji Stadium, marking the successful conclusion of one of the most prominent sporting events in the islands.
The tournament, aimed at promoting sportsmanship, youth participation, fitness and community engagement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from teams across the islands. A total of 51 teams took part in the competition, which commenced on March 15, 2025. During the league stage, 101 matches were played at Netaji Stadium and Port Mout Cricket Ground. The tournament was temporarily paused during the monsoon season and resumed on January 19, 2026.
In total, 153 matches—including league matches, pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals, semifinals and the final—were played during the tournament.
In the grand finale, the A&N Police Team emerged victorious after defeating the A&N Forest Team to lift the coveted winner’s trophy. The trophy was presented by Mr. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The runner-up trophy was presented to the A&N Forest Team by Ms. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, Inspector General of Police, A&N Islands.
Among individual achievers, Mr. Jayaprakash Narayan, captain of the A&N Police Team, was adjudged Man of the Match (Final) and awarded a cash prize of ₹5,000. Mr. Vikas Sharma of AN Command delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament and bagged multiple honours, including Best Batsman (₹10,000), Best Bowler (₹10,000) and Player of the Series (₹15,000).
The grand finale was attended by Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Mr. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, Director General of Police, along with senior officials and a large number of sports enthusiasts.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP appreciated the efforts of all participating teams, organizers and supporters who contributed to the successful conduct of the tournament. On the occasion, he also announced the launch of the DGP Cup State Level League-cum-Knockout Cricket Tournament (Season–4) and invited teams from across the islands to participate.
He emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in encouraging youth engagement, nurturing sporting talent and strengthening positive police–community relations.
The tournament concluded in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and sportsmanship, reflecting the spirit of unity and healthy competition. Through initiatives such as the DGP Cup, the Andaman and Nicobar Police reaffirm their commitment to promoting sports, inspiring youth and fostering stronger bonds between the police and the community across the islands.
The tournament was conducted under the overall supervision of Ms. Niyati Mittal Kashyap, Superintendent of Police, Armed Police Unit. The event was successfully organized with the dedicated efforts and support of officers and staff of the Armed Police Unit, IRBn, Police Headquarters, and with cooperation from officials of SOVTECH, IP&T, Directorate of Sports and other supporting departments of the A&N Administration.
