The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has brought attention to the critical shortage of essential medical personnel at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kalighat, urging the Health Secretary of the A&N Administration to intervene.

In a letter addressed to the Health Secretary, Mr. Halder highlighted the pressing issues faced by PHC Kalighat, including a deficit in technicians, nurses, and doctors, which is severely impacting the delivery of crucial healthcare services. Despite the presence of a functional X-ray machine, the absence of qualified technicians has resulted in delays in diagnostic procedures for patients in need.

Mr. Halder further emphasised that the PHC is operating with only one nurse and one female doctor, leading to a strain on resources and causing delays in treatment. This shortage of staff not only hampers the efficiency of the healthcare facility but also raises concerns about potential compromises in patient care. The limited staff are struggling to meet the healthcare needs of the local population adequately.

Expressing concern over the situation, Mr. Halder appealed to the Health Secretary to take immediate action to address the staffing deficiencies at PHC Kalighat. He stressed the importance of ensuring the well-being of patients and providing them with the healthcare services they rightfully deserve.

The plea from the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President underscores the urgent need for intervention to alleviate the challenges faced by PHC Kalighat and to ensure that healthcare services are accessible and effective for the local community.
