The President of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Mr. Rangalal Halder, has called upon the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to take swift action in addressing the severe shortage of teachers at the Secondary School (Hindi Medium) in Shoal Bay-12, South Andaman.

In a formal letter, Mr. Halder highlighted the concerning situation where five teachers were recently transferred from the school during the vacation period, leaving the institution without adequate replacements. This shortage has resulted in significant disruptions, particularly in critical subjects, leaving students without proper instruction and jeopardising their academic progress.

The absence of qualified teachers in essential subjects has already begun to impact the students’ performance, and there is growing anxiety among parents and educators about the long-term consequences for the children’s education, Mr. Halder stated.

The ANTCC President further underscored that the frequent and untimely transfer of teachers, without ensuring replacements, is a recurring problem affecting schools across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He warned that if this issue is not promptly resolved, it could have a lasting negative impact on the education system and the future prospects of the island’s students.

Mr. Halder urged the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to immediately appoint substitute teachers to fill the vacancies at Shoal Bay-12 Secondary School. He emphasized that the future of these students should not be compromised due to administrative delays, and called for urgent intervention to prevent further setbacks in their education.
