Awareness Programme and Rangoli Competition Mark World TB Day Observance in Mayabunder

An awareness programme-cum-Rangoli competition was organised on Thursday by the District TB Centre at Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder, under the aegis of the District Health Society, North & Middle Andaman, in connection with the observance of World TB Day 2026.

The programme was held under the theme “Yes! We Can End TB – led by Bharat, powered by Jan Bhagidari”, highlighting the importance of collective efforts and community participation in the fight against tuberculosis.

Mr. S. Krishna Chaitanya, Additional District Magistrate, North & Middle Andaman, inaugurated the programme as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasised the need for early detection, strict adherence to complete treatment, and active community involvement to achieve the goal of TB elimination. He underscored that public awareness and people’s participation are key to building a TB-free society. He also interacted with students and engaged them in a discussion on tuberculosis and its prevention.

Ms. Archana Devi, Pradhan of GP Pokkadera, was also present on the occasion.

As part of the programme, a Rangoli competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and members of the public. Participants creatively depicted messages on TB awareness, prevention strategies, and the importance of timely treatment, making the event both informative and engaging.

Dr. Christina Rossity, District TB Officer, North & Middle Andaman, informed that the winners of the competition will be felicitated during the World TB Day celebration on March 24, 2026.

The programme concluded on an inspiring note with the slogan, “TB Harega, Desh Jeetega.”
