Port Blair, 07 February 2024
On February 6th, 2024, Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, the State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, engaged in a crucial meeting with Mr. Keshav Chandra, the Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration. The focus of their discussion was centred around the pressing need to fill vacant positions of Assistant Professors of Physical Education in various educational institutions across the region.
During the meeting, Mr. Bairagi emphasized the longstanding issue of unfilled positions in institutions such as JNRM, Andaman College, TGCE Port Blair, and Mahatma Gandhi College in Mayabunder. He underscored the detrimental consequences of leaving these positions vacant for an extended period, warning that failure to address the matter promptly could result in the posts being abolished altogether. Mr. Bairagi stressed the availability of qualified candidates among the island’s youth and suggested engaging the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to streamline the recruitment process.
Highlighting the plight of qualified individuals who have been left with limited opportunities due to the lack of advertisement for these positions, Mr. Bairagi urged for swift action in filling the vacancies to prevent further setbacks in the educational sector. He called upon authorities to prioritize the recruitment process to ensure the efficient functioning of these institutions and provide employment opportunities to deserving candidates.
In response to Mr. Bairagi’s concerns, Chief Secretary Keshav Chandra attentively listened and assured that the issues raised by the State President of BJP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, would be promptly addressed.
