Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Andaman and Nicobar Telecom Circle through its official twitter handle BSNL Andaman (@bsnlandamannic) has tweeted a series of tweets alleging that Airtel is systematically damaging their OFC network.
Tagging the official twitter accounts of Mr. Chetan Sanghi, Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Media Cell of the Lt. Governors Secretariat, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, BSNL conveyed that their OFC is being systematically damaged by Airtel. BSNL further adds that they had cautioned Airtel to be careful everytime, but they have damaged its OFC six times in a row.
BSNL further in its tweets informed that the damage has caused interruptions in Voice, Broadband and FTTH services. The OFC distributing submarine cable bandwidth to vital installations like for Defence (Army, Navy, Airforce, Coast Guard and ANC), Secretariat, Hospitals, Airports, Banks including the leased lines have been affected.
BSNL through the tweets have requested Airtel to first repair the damages caused before digging again. They also mentioned that it may take a week for restoration of their OFC Networks and regretted the inconvenience being caused to their customers.
Further in its tweets BSNL mentions date wise damaged caused to its OFC Network by Airtel. On 21st October according to BSNL, Airtel damaged their Port Blair – Port Mout OFC because of careless digging which resulted in voice, broadband and FTTH interruptions.
On 30th October Airtel damaged their Bhatu Basti – Brichgunj OFC because of careless digging which resulted in voice, broadband and FTTH interruptions.
On 2nd of November Airtel damaged their Ferrargunj – Wimberligunj OFC because of careless digging which resulted in voice, broadband and FTTH interruptions.
On 8th of November Airtel damaged their Garacharma – Prothrapur OFC because of careless digging which resulted in voice, broadband and FTTH interruptions.
On 9th of November Airtel damaged their Ferrargunj – Wimberligunj OFC because of careless digging which resulted in voice, broadband and FTTH interruptions.
Again on 9th of November Airtel damaged their Port Blair – Shadipur OFC because of careless digging which resulted in voice, broadband and FTTH interruptions.
