In anticipation of the forthcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, Mr. B S Jaglan, IAS, the Chief Electoral Officer of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, convened a crucial meeting on February 7, 2024. The meeting aimed to strategise and ensure advanced preparations for critical aspects such as webcasting in critical polling stations and the seamless functioning of the Election Toll-Free No. 1950.

The meeting brought together key officials from the Department of Telecommunication, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), and SOVTECH. Discussions centred on webcasting arrangements in critical polling stations and polling stations located in vulnerable areas. These measures are vital to providing immediate support, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process, and bolstering voter confidence.

Furthermore, the Election Commission of India has revamped its Voter Helpline 1950, enhancing its accessibility and services. Registered electors can now easily access information regarding their voter registration status, polling station details for the election day, and contact information for Booth Level Officers by dialling the 1950 Helpline number.

Mr. B S Jaglan, IAS, instructed concerned departments to strengthen the functionality of the 1950 Toll-Free Number and ensure meticulous preparations for webcasting in critical polling stations. Additionally, directives were issued to guarantee mobile coverage at polling stations currently lacking connectivity.
