Chief Electoral Officer Inspects Govt. Press for Lok Sabha Election Preparations

In view of the ‘Lok Sabha Election-2024’, Mr. B.S. Jaglan, IAS, the Chief Electoral Officer, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Government Press on March 21st, 2024. The purpose of the visit was to oversee the arrangements made for the printing and distribution of essential election materials, particularly the ‘Postal Ballot’ and Ballot Papers, adhering to the specifications outlined by the Election Commission of India.

Accompanied by Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director of IP&T, Mr. Jaglan meticulously toured various sections of the press, including the Machine Section, Binding Section, Gazette Section, and Offset Unit. Throughout the inspection, he engaged with the staff responsible for operating these sections, gaining insights into their roles and responsibilities in the election material production process. Additionally, Mr. Jaglan took note of the Gazette Notifications pertinent to the elections, observing them being printed during his visit.

Recognising, the dedication and commitment of the press employees, the Chief Electoral Officer commended them for their unwavering service in ensuring the timely printing of various materials crucial for the electoral process.

During discussions, the Manager of the Government Press provided a detailed briefing to Mr. Jaglan on the press’s functioning. In response, the Chief Electoral Officer emphasised the paramount importance of ensuring the prompt printing and distribution of election materials, particularly emphasising the need for timely production of Ballot Papers to facilitate the smooth conduct of the elections.

Mr. Jaglan’s visit underscores the meticulous planning and preparation underway to ensure the seamless execution of the Lok Sabha Election-2024, reflecting the Election Commission’s commitment to upholding the integrity and efficiency of the electoral process.
