Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Information, Publicity and Tourism, A&N Administration, visited the pavilion of the Department of Information, Publicity and Tourism at the South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE) currently being held in New Delhi.

During her visit, the Commissioner interacted with stakeholders from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands participating at the pavilion. She reviewed the promotional initiatives undertaken by the department to position the Islands as a premier tourism destination in South Asia and stressed the need to further strengthen outreach to both domestic and international travel markets.

The three-day travel expo, being held at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention and Expo Centre), Dwarka, has brought together tourism stakeholders, travel trade professionals, tour operators, hospitality leaders, and media representatives from across the globe. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands pavilion has been drawing significant attention for its emphasis on sustainable tourism, pristine beaches, rich marine biodiversity, geo-heritage sites, stargazing opportunities, and adventure sports.

The pavilion showcased the Islands’ key attractions, including the Blue Flag-certified Radhanagar Beach, the historic Cellular Jail symbolising India’s freedom struggle, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSCB) Dweep, stargazing experiences, Barren Island — South Asia’s only active volcano, the mud volcanoes of Baratang, endemic bird species, Chatham Island, and surfing in the untamed waves of Little Andaman.

Officials at the expo are holding a series of B2B meetings with tour operators, media representatives, and travel influencers to explore partnerships aimed at increasing tourist footfall while ensuring environmental sustainability. Promotional materials highlighting adventure tourism, heritage circuits, island-hopping experiences, recent travel initiatives, and developments in the tourism sector are being distributed to visitors.

SATTE provides a strategic platform to position the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as an emerging tropical destination within South Asia. The participation marks another step towards enhancing the global visibility of the Islands and attracting discerning travellers seeking pristine natural landscapes, adventure, and world-class nature experiences.
