The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of the road stretch from Mithakhari Junction to Namunaghar Junction, urging the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) to initiate urgent repairs.
In a formal letter addressed to the Chief Engineer of APWD, Mr. Halder highlighted the daily struggles faced by residents, commuters, and especially school-going children, as the road has become increasingly unsafe following the reopening of schools. According to him, the stretch is marred by large potholes, broken surfaces, and uneven patches, posing a significant threat to two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.
“The condition of this road is not only causing immense discomfort but is also endangering lives. If not repaired promptly, it may result in accidents and health problems due to the bumpy rides and dust pollution,” Mr. Halder stated.
He called upon the department to undertake immediate repair and maintenance of the road, emphasizing its importance as a vital route for schoolchildren, office-goers, and the general public.
Expressing hope for swift action, Mr. Halder urged the APWD to address the legitimate concerns of the public without delay.
