Cyber Crime Police Station Cracks Cyberbullying Case Involving Morphed Image of Woman

The Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) of the Andaman & Nicobar Police has successfully apprehended a suspect involved in a disturbing case of cyberbullying targeting woman. The arrest marks another significant achievement for the CCPS in its ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime in the region.

The case came to light when a complaint was filed with the Cyber Crime Police Station regarding the misuse of a Facebook profile. The suspect had allegedly manipulated the victim’s image, attaching it to nude bodies, and used these altered photos to send threatening messages. In response to the complaint, the CCPS launched a thorough investigation, employing continuous surveillance techniques to track down the individual responsible.

On September 6, 2024, the suspect was successfully apprehended. During interrogation, the individual confessed to altering and uploading the photos with the intent to intimidate and threaten the victim.

The investigation was spearheaded by Inspector Sahil Shamsuddin, Station House Officer of the Cyber Crime Police Station, with vital assistance from Inspector Mohd. Sameer, Sub-Inspector Deva Raju, Head Constable B.K. Singh, Constables Sangeeta Mazumder, Atish, and Kayan Mohammed, and Home Guard Gyana Sekhar. The operation was closely monitored by Mr. Lakshay Pandey, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime, under the direct supervision of Mr. Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, Superintendent of Police, CID.
