DLSA and IHRCCO Conduct Legal Awareness Programme at GSSS School Line

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in collaboration with the International Human Rights & Crime Control Organization (IHRCCO), organized a Legal Awareness Programme on October 18, 2025, at Government Senior Secondary School, School Line, Sri Vijaya Puram. The event aimed to enhance legal literacy among students and the general public on vital social and legal issues.

The programme was graced by Mr. Sudhir Kumar, Hon’ble District Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Mr. Anupam Sircar, Judicial Magistrate First Class-cum-Civil Judge (Junior Division), Additional Court, Port Blair.

Key topics covered during the session included Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, Protection of Children under the POCSO Act, and Prevention of Drug Abuse. Ms. Saraswathi Narayan, National General Secretary & State President, IHRCCO, along with other officials of IHRCCO, and Ms. Preeja Menon, Panel Lawyer, DLSA, actively participated and addressed the gathering.

During the interactive sessions, students and teachers were sensitized about women’s rights, child protection laws, and the dangers of drug abuse. The participants were also informed about Free Legal Aid, Lok Adalats, and various Legal Services Schemes implemented under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, who posed insightful legal queries that were answered by the dignitaries.

The event concluded on a positive note with participants expressing their commitment to promote legal literacy and strengthen awareness on social justice within the community.
