Owing to the overwhelming response from tourists and local residents, the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) has scheduled special round cruises to Barren Island during March 2026.
The cruise offers passengers a rare opportunity to witness South Asia’s only active volcano while enjoying the scenic beauty and pristine waters of the Andaman Sea. The voyage is expected to attract both tourists and island residents keen to experience one of the region’s most remarkable natural attractions.
As per the schedule, the vessel Nalanda will depart for the round cruise to Barren Island on March 13, 2026 at 9 pm and March 27, 2026 at 9 pm.
The Directorate of Shipping Services has invited interested tourists and islanders to avail themselves of this unique opportunity. Passengers have been advised to complete their ticket bookings well in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
