In a bid to maintain the sanctity and integrity of the electoral process, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has enforced a strict prohibition on the conducting and publication of exit polls in any form from 7 am on April 19th, 2024, until 6:30 pm on June 1st, 2024.

During this period, which spans over six weeks, any dissemination or publicising of exit poll results through print or electronic media is strictly forbidden in connection with the General Elections-2024.

Moreover, the Election Commission has emphasised the prohibition of displaying any election-related matter, including the results of opinion polls or any other survey, on electronic media during the 48 hours preceding the conclusion of the polls. These measures aim to prevent the premature influence of public opinion and ensure a level playing field for all candidates.

The Election Commission has underscored that contravention of these regulations will be met with appropriate action under the provisions of the Representation of People Act, 1961. It has called upon all stakeholders, including media organisations and citizens, to adhere to these guidelines diligently.

Specifically addressing the electorates within the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency, the Election Commission has appealed for their cooperation in upholding the electoral laws. Citizens have been urged to exercise vigilance and refrain from any activities that could violate the stipulated regulations.
