In view of the soaring summer temperatures and the corresponding rise in electricity demand, particularly during the evening peak hours, the Electricity Department has issued an advisory to residents of Sri Vijaya Puram and adjoining areas of South Andaman.

According to the Department, the peak electricity demand between 5:30 PM and 10:30 PM has led to a temporary shortfall in power supply. To address this situation and avoid curtailment, consumers have been urged to use electricity judiciously, especially during the critical evening hours.

Residents have been specifically advised to minimize the use of high-power-consuming appliances such as air conditioners, water motors, ovens (OTGs), geysers, and garden lighting. Additionally, the Department has requested consumers to switch off unnecessary electrical appliances when not in use to ease the load on the power grid.

The Electricity Department has assured that it is closely monitoring the situation and may carry out inspections to ensure compliance with demand-side management measures. The Department reiterated its commitment to maintaining an uninterrupted power supply and seeks the public’s cooperation to overcome the temporary challenge.
