A five-day Free Distribution Camp for Artificial Limbs and Calipers for Divyangjan, jointly organized by the Rotary Club, Mahavir Seva Sadan (Kolkata), and CRC A&N Islands, successfully concluded on April 14 at the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Brookshabad.
The Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. In his address, he lauded the collective efforts of all stakeholders and emphasized the need for sustainable rehabilitation infrastructure. “Once a permanent building is established, the administration will further enhance facilities to ensure long-term rehabilitation support for Divyangjan in the region,” he stated.
Also present on the occasion was Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Director of Social Welfare, who praised the commitment and coordination demonstrated by the organizing teams in serving Persons with Disabilities.
Ms. Sumithamol, Director of CRC A&N Islands, highlighted the need for continued collaboration to ensure inclusive and accessible rehabilitation services across the Islands. Rtn. Sagar Khurana shared that a total of 96 beneficiaries were provided with 135 prosthetic and orthotic devices during the camp.
The camp was supported by a team of medical and technical experts from Mahavir Seva Sadan, Kolkata, who played a vital role in providing customised mobility aids and support to the attendees.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rtn. Srawan Agarwal.
This initiative stands as a meaningful step towards promoting inclusivity and empowering Persons with Disabilities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. (Story Based on PR)
