Following the rollout of the revised GST 2.0 framework, the GST Department, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has observed that several business establishments are yet to fully comply with the updated GST rates, regulations, and exemptions, despite ample time having been provided for transition.
Acting under the direction and leadership of the Commissioner, UTGST, inspection teams carried out surprise checks at 15 bakery establishments in Sri Vijaya Puram on October 30 and 31, 2025. During the inspections, on-the-spot penalties were imposed in instances of irregularities and non-compliance, resulting in the collection of Rs. 1,20,000, which has been remitted to the Government account.
The Department has stated that the inspection drive will continue and be intensified in the coming days to ensure strict enforcement of the revised GST provisions and to safeguard consumer interests, ensuring they receive the due benefits of the new rate structure.
All business entities have been reminded that compliance with GST laws and notifications is mandatory, and any deviation will attract penal action as prescribed under the GST Act.
For grievances, complaints regarding non-compliance, or clarifications related to GST 2.0 rates and exemptions in the Union Territory, businesses and residents can contact the GST Department via WhatsApp at 9595359698.
