In a concerted effort spearheaded by the India Reserve Battalion (IRBn), in collaboration with the A&N Police and the Department of Health Services (DHS), a comprehensive health camp was successfully conducted recently at the battalion headquarters. The event, aimed at fostering preventive healthcare measures and disseminating awareness about critical health issues, catered to a total of 80 participants, including IRBn personnel and their families.
The initiative encompassed various key activities, including:
Screening Camp for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs): Vital health assessments were administered to identify and manage conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. This underscored the significance of early detection and intervention in combating the escalating burden of NCDs.
BCG Vaccination Campaign: Emphasizing the importance of immunisation in averting Tuberculosis (TB), the BCG vaccination campaign contributed to the overarching goal of eradicating TB and safeguarding community well-being.
Ayurveda Medical Camp: Attendees received traditional healthcare services and consultations, advocating a holistic approach to wellness by integrating Ayurvedic principles for overall health promotion.
Awareness Talk on ‘World No Tobacco Day’: An enlightening session was conducted to enlighten the community about the adverse effects of tobacco consumption and the imperative of tobacco cessation. This initiative resonated with the global endeavour to raise awareness about tobacco-related health hazards.
The success of the health camp was attributable to the collaborative efforts of dedicated healthcare professionals, including Dr. Snegda Biswas, Incharge MO HWC Chouldari, Dr. Keerthi, MO (Ayurveda) HWC Chouldari, along with two intern doctors, one public health nurse, one community health officer, one malaria surveillance worker, and two ANMs, who provided invaluable support and assistance throughout the event.
Under the adept guidance of Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivatsava, DGP, ANI, and the supervision of Ms. Sindhu Pillai A, IPS, IGP, ANI, Ms. Monika Bharadwaj, DIGP(IRBn) & Ms. Shweta K Sugathan, Commandant(IRBn), the event underscored the A&N Police’s steadfast commitment to promoting health initiatives and ensuring the well-being of its diligent police personnel.
