Joint Inspection Conducted at Proposed Counting Centre in Andaman & Nicobar Parliamentary Constituency Ahead of General Election

In anticipation of the forthcoming General Election to Lok Sabha – 2024, a comprehensive joint inspection was carried out under the stewardship of Returning Officer, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, for the Andaman & Nicobar Parliamentary Constituency. The inspection, which saw the participation of various governmental bodies, aimed at establishing the proposed Counting Centre at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Port Blair. This initiative aligns with the directives issued by the Election Commission of India concerning the selection of Counting Centres and ensuring adequate security measures.

Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, led the inspection alongside representatives from pivotal departments including the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC), Police Department, Andaman Public Works Department (APWD), Electricity Department, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Fire Service, Information & Publicity Department, and election-related officers. The collaborative effort sought to evaluate the feasibility and readiness of the proposed venue to serve as the nerve centre for the crucial counting process.

As the nation gears up for the General Election to Lok Sabha – 2024, such proactive measures underscore the meticulous planning and coordination essential to ensure the seamless conduct of democratic proceedings. The joint inspection not only signifies the collective resolve to uphold democratic values but also underscores the significance of transparent and accountable electoral practices in fostering a vibrant democracy.
