The Khadi and Village Industries Board organized a Khadi promotional programme at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) as part of the ongoing Khadi Mahotsav celebrations, aiming to create awareness among students about the historical and contemporary relevance of Khadi.

Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal of JNRM, graced the event as the chief guest and commended the Board for its efforts to educate the younger generation on the legacy and cultural value of Khadi. She noted that embracing Khadi helps preserve India’s heritage while supporting rural industries and artisans who depend on the craft for their livelihood.

During the session, students were introduced to the origin and evolution of Khadi—from its association with India’s freedom movement to its growing prominence in modern, sustainable fashion. Speakers encouraged students to adopt Khadi in their daily wear and promote its benefits as an eco-friendly, versatile fabric that supports rural weavers and artisans.

A Khadi sales-cum-exhibition was also set up on the college campus, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and staff who explored and purchased a variety of Khadi products. The initiative reflected the increasing interest among youth in sustainable and indigenous textiles. (Story Based on PR)
