Man Caught Collecting Parcel Containing Concealed Ganja from DTDC Courier in Junglighat

In a swift operation based on credible intelligence, Aberdeen Police on Saturday arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly possessing illicit ganja concealed in a courier parcel. The accused, a resident of Sippighat, was apprehended at the DTDC Courier office on Dean Street, Junglighat.

According to the FIR, the information about the accused’s intent to collect a suspicious parcel was received on April 12. A raid team led by Sub-Inspector Abhishek Halder was immediately constituted following orders from SDPO South Andaman, Mr. Vikas Swami, IPS.

The police team, accompanied by independent witnesses, reached the courier office and found the accused in possession of the parcel. Upon conducting a search in the presence of the SDPO and witnesses, police recovered a navy blue denim trouser with a concealed black wrapper inside. The wrapper contained approximately 205 grams of illicit ganja.

The contraband was tested on the spot using a drug detection kit and returned a positive result for ganja. Police seized the ganja along with the parcel and the trouser under all legal formalities, sealing the items and documenting the recovery on the e-Sakshya app.

The accused was booked under Section 20(b)(ii)A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
