Martyr’s Day will be observed across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on January 30 as a mark of respect to those who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for India’s freedom.
As part of the observance, a two-minute silence will be observed with due solemnity from 11:00 a.m. to 11:02 a.m., during which all work and movement will remain suspended throughout the Islands.
The Directorate of Disaster Management will blow sirens to signal the commencement and conclusion of the silence period. The siren will be sounded from 10:59 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to indicate the start of the observance and again from 11:02 a.m. to 11:03 a.m. to mark its conclusion. The general public has been urged not to panic during the siren sounding, as it is part of the scheduled Martyr’s Day observance.
All educational institutions and public sector enterprises have been requested to ensure proper and dignified observance of Martyr’s Day in remembrance of the nation’s martyrs.
