In a bid to bolster the democratic representation of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament, has fervently urged the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to integrate the Jarawa Tribe into the electoral process in 2029 Parliamentary Election.

Addressing a significant gap in democratic participation, Mr. Sharma lauded the active involvement of the Shompen Tribe in the recent Lok Sabha elections of 2024. Expressing his gratitude for their engagement, he highlighted the strides taken towards inclusivity by incorporating Nicobari, Onge, Great Andamanese, and Shompen Tribes into the electoral framework.

Asserting the fundamental principles of equality and justice, Mr. Sharma underscored the imperative of extending this inclusivity to encompass the Jarawa Tribes, an indispensable segment of the constituency. Emphasizing their right to representation, he emphasized the necessity of amplifying their voices within the democratic discourse.

To achieve this objective, Mr. Sharma called upon the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to spearhead proactive measures aimed at facilitating the participation of the Jarawa Tribes in the upcoming 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Recognising the potential logistical challenges, he advocated for tailored initiatives and outreach programs to ensure the Jarawa community’s awareness of their rights and responsibilities as voters.

The impassioned plea by Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma echoes a resounding call for inclusivity, heralding a crucial step towards fostering a more representative and equitable democratic landscape in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
