Hon’ble Member of Parliament for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, made a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chief Secretary of A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, on 30th November 2024. During the meeting, Mr. Ray welcomed Dr. Kumar to the Islands and congratulated him on his new assignment.
The MP took the opportunity to inform the new Chief Secretary about several unsolved issues in the region that require immediate attention. He expressed confidence that under Dr. Kumar’s leadership, many of these important problems would be addressed and resolved.
Mr. Ray also briefed Dr. Kumar about various priority development projects in different sectors that needs to be undertaken for the benefit of the Islanders. In response, the Chief Secretary assured the MP that he would review the matters raised and ensure that the projects are given priority for timely implementation, aimed at benefiting the people of the Islands.
Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS (AGMUT: 1995), recently assumed the charge of Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. His appointment follows an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, dated November 21, 2024. Dr. Kumar officially took charge on the forenoon of November 25, 2024, at the Secretariat in Sri Vijaya Puram.
Dr. Kumar’s extensive experience includes his previous role as Additional Secretary and Mission Director of the Jal Jeevan Mission under the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. He played a pivotal role in advancing Jal Jeevan Mission initiatives across the country.
