Mr, Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has requested the Chief Secretary to schedule two sailings of ships/boats weekly for Diglipur, Mayabunder and Rangat so that people can safely and comfortably travel between North and Middle Andaman and Port Blair.

In his letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that after the recent intervention of the Chief Secretary, the work for up-gradation of Andaman Trunk Road has gained traction. He added that due to continuous rain and various other logistical as well as technical shortcomings the condition of Andaman Trunk Road from Baratang to Diglipur still remains worrisome.

The MP added that the worst sufferers are the patients, old age citizens and children who have to travel through the slushy Andaman Trunk Road, risking their lives. He also added that everyone fears for the safety of their lives and vehicles while travelling through ATR.

The MP requested the Chief Secretary to schedule two sailings of vessels per week for Diglipur, Mayabunder and Rangat in the larger public interest.
