Pashu Camp Organised at Pokadera to Boost Livestock Health and Support SHGs

The Community Development (C.D.) Block, Mayabunder, in convergence with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS) and Gram Panchayat (GP) Pokadera, organised a Pashu Camp at Ward No. 01, GP Pokadera under Mayabunder Block on Wednesday.

The camp was conducted with the objective of supporting Self Help Group (SHG) members under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) by promoting livestock development and ensuring improved animal health.

Dr. M. Sujata Hegde, Senior Veterinary Officer, Mayabunder, Mr. Sanjeev Narayan, Extension Officer, Mr. Jayselan, Ward Member, Cluster Coordinator, Community Resource Persons (CRPs), Mr. Naushad Malik, Senior Veterinary Compounder, along with a team of para-veterinary staff from the Department of AH&VS, were present during the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Hegde highlighted various schemes and programmes available for livestock farmers and encouraged SHG members to avail the benefits to enhance their income through scientific livestock management.

During the camp, the veterinary team conducted health check-ups of 46 cattle and goats, besides examining one dog brought by SHG members and other livestock owners. Symptomatic treatment was also provided to poultry birds.

Necessary guidance, treatment and recommendations were extended to livestock owners to ensure better animal health, improved productivity and sustainable livelihood support in the rural area.
