In a decisive move against the rampant spread of illicit substances, the Police Station (PS) Diglipur has once again demonstrated its resolute stance by taking stringent action against drug peddlers in the region.

Acting on reliable intelligence, a team led by Inspector K. Binoj, Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Diglipur, orchestrated a meticulously planned raid in the Madhupur area. The operation, which comprised Sub-Inspector Abdul Shakil and Police Constables Abubacker Siddique, Debsai Toppo, Soma Dey, Rajkumari, and Mirthunjoy Das, alongside two independent witnesses, was conducted under the astute supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Diglipur.

The team strategically positioned themselves near the way to DB Gram road in Madhupur, lying in wait for suspicious activity. Their vigilance paid off when they spotted an individual acting furtively, approaching from the main road. Without hesitation, the raiding team swiftly intercepted the suspect and conducted a thorough search, unearthing 130 grams of illicit ganja in the possession of Jagadish Ch. Das. Consequently, Jagadish Chandra Das, aged 27 and a resident of Madhupur Ward No. 2, was promptly apprehended, and a case was registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at PS Diglipur.

During interrogation, Das confessed to receiving the contraband from Amar Nandi, a resident of Caddlegunj. Acting on this revelation, the raiding team detained Nandi, who, upon questioning, admitted to his involvement in the illegal activity. Amar Nandi, aged 27 and son of Mr. Rakhal Nandi from Caddlegunj, was subsequently arrested after due process.

The entire operation was conducted under the watchful eye of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, SDPO Diglipur, and under the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.

In light of this successful intervention, the public is urged to continue their cooperation by reporting any credible information related to criminal activities to the nearest Police Station or by contacting emergency helpline numbers 100, 112, or 03192-273344. Informants’ identities will be safeguarded, and they may also be eligible for rewards.

This resolute action underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat the menace of drug trafficking, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
