In a continued effort to combat the unlawful trade of narcotic drugs and substances, the vigilant team at Police Station Billiground achieved a significant breakthrough. Acting on credible information, law enforcement officials successfully apprehended one suspect and confiscated five cannabis plants on August 16, 2023.
The operation unfolded in Duke Nagar, Ward No.2, Billiground, where a team of dedicated officers led by Sub-Inspectors Deepak Kumar Xaxa, Manoj Lal, Silpa Dutta, Head Constables Pradeep Kumar Kindo and Amrita Bawali, as well as Police Constables A. Anandh Kumar and Uday Kullu, executed a meticulous raid. The raid, conducted under the watchful eye of Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, SDPO Rangat, culminated in the discovery of five cannabis plants discreetly cultivated at the rear of the suspect’s residence.
These illicit plants, varying in size, were promptly confiscated following the formal procedures outlined in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The total weight of the seized cannabis plants tallied approximately 329 grams, underscoring the substantial nature of the discovery. As a result of this operation, the primary suspect, identified as 33-year-old Biswajit Halder, son of Mr. Binoy Halder and a resident of Duke Nagar, faced immediate legal consequences. He was charged under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
The precision of this operation was ensured through the direct supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police (D) for North & Middle Andaman.
