In a swift operation, the Rangat Police cracked down on an illegal bar operation on May 2, 2024, following inputs received by police personnel. The operation, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Rangat, saw the immediate response of a team consisting of Sub-Inspector Abdul Sajid, and Police Constables Hamza, Bashir, and Suraj Mistry.

Upon receiving information regarding an illicit bar operation, the team swiftly moved to the location of “Seashore Bar,” which was reportedly operating before the authorised time of 11:00 AM. Upon arrival, they found the bar already serving alcohol to customers.

The bar manager, upon questioning, failed to provide valid documents justifying the early opening, indicating a clear violation of the terms and conditions of the bar license.

In a subsequent action, the police seized a significant quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) stock, including 160 bottles of various brands, from the bar counter. Additionally, the bar’s two godowns were sealed in accordance with legal procedures.

A case under the Excise Regulation was filed against Sanjay Kumar, the manager of “Seashore Bar,” son of Vasudevan Kurup, aged 36, and resident of Padmanabhapuram.

The investigation into the case is currently underway.

The public has been urged to report any information regarding crimes or illegal activities to their nearest Police Station or via phone numbers 100, 112, or 03192-273344. Informers’ identities will be kept confidential, and suitable rewards may be provided for credible information.

This crackdown underscores the commitment of the Rangat Police to uphold law and order and curb illicit activities in the region.
