The operation was led by Sub-Inspector M.V. Shiju Kumar following credible information that the suspect was in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine and actively seeking buyers. Upon receiving the tip, SI Shiju Kumar alerted Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Rangat, Mr. Chandan G.S. (DANIPS), who directed immediate action and confirmed his participation in the raid.

After Reaching Cutbert Bay, the team proceeded on foot to the suspect’s residence. On arrival at, the location, police identified the accused and informed him of the reason for their presence. Legal procedures under the NDPS Act were meticulously followed, including informing the accused of his rights and serving notice under Section 50 of the Act.

Though no contraband was found during the initial search of the house, the accused later admitted to concealing the drugs in a hidden spot in the forested area behind his home. He led the team to the location, where two golden yellow plastic packets were recovered, each containing a crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

Scene of Crime Officer Ms. Nasreen conducted on-the-spot testing using a drug detection kit, which confirmed the substance as methamphetamine. The seized drugs were found to weigh 1.018 kg and 1.026 kg respectively, totalling 2.173 kg — a quantity that falls under the “commercial” category as defined in the NDPS Act.
