Police Station Rangat Conducts Raid to Curb Illegal Gambling

In a proactive effort to maintain public order and safety during the festive season, the Rangat Police Station conducted a raid in response to credible information regarding illegal gambling activities in Sitapur. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Madhab Halder, alongside Sub-Inspector Abdul Sajeed and Head Constables Paresh Chandra Das, D. Rushkeshwar Rao, and Police Constable Yashwant Rao.

During the raid, law enforcement officials apprehended ten individuals engaged in illegal gambling. The operation yielded the seizure of two packets of playing cards and ₹31,330 in stake money. A further personal search of the detained individuals uncovered an additional ₹20,250, bringing the total amount recovered to ₹51,580.

All ten suspects have been booked under relevant sections of the Gambling Act, highlighting the commitment of the Nicobar and Andaman District Police to combat illegal activities within the community. In accordance with legal procedures, the apprehended individuals were served a notice under Section 35 (3) of the BNSS, 2023, and the seized items have been securely sealed for further legal processing.

The identities of informants will be kept confidential, and suitable rewards will be offered for valuable information.
