POSHAN Pakhwada Culminates in Diglipur with Focus on Nutrition and Community Health

The valedictory function of POSHAN Pakhwada was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Diglipur, marking the culmination of a fortnight dedicated to raising awareness on nutrition, health, and child welfare. The event saw vibrant community participation and was graced by several dignitaries, including Chief Guest Mr. Deepankar Mistry, Pramukh, Panchayat Samity, Diglipur.

Also present were Ms. Indira Devi, Child Development Project Officer, ICDS Diglipur; Ms. Arti Singh, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Diglipur; Dr. Shipra Mistry, Medical Officer (AYUSH), Community Health Centre, Diglipur; along with health educators and other stakeholders committed to improving nutritional outcomes.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Indira Devi, who highlighted the key objectives and achievements of POSHAN Pakhwada. She lauded the dedication of Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), frontline workers, and the active involvement of the local community in making the initiative a success.

Ms. Arti Singh emphasized the importance of integrating cultural practices and local food diversity into daily diets to achieve sustainable nutrition. Dr. Shipra Mistry delivered an informative talk on the health impacts of malnutrition and anaemia, underscoring the significance of regular health check-ups, iron supplementation, deworming, and hygiene in child care.

In his keynote address, Chief Guest Mr. Deepankar Mistry stressed the critical role of community engagement and grassroots awareness in combating malnutrition. He urged families to embrace traditional and locally available nutritious foods, commending the efforts of AWWs under POSHAN Abhiyaan.

A highlight of the event was a recipe competition organized by Anganwadi Workers, showcasing innovative and nutritious meals suitable for pregnant and lactating women as well as young children. Dishes made from millets, pulses, cereals, and green leafy vegetables demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting healthy dietary habits.

Additionally, a Toyathon added a creative flair to the celebration, encouraging learning through play—an essential aspect of early childhood development. Participants were awarded for their ingenuity, with prizes distributed by Mr. Mistry.

Cultural performances by children infused the event with festive spirit, drawing applause from attendees and adding joy to the closing ceremony.

The valedictory function underscored the collective resolve of the community and administration to advance nutritional well-being, especially for women and children, through collaborative action and awareness.
