PS Aberdeen Arrests Three Individuals Involved in Supply of Drugs to Students

PS Aberdeen, continuing their unwavering commitment to combat the drug menace, recently made significant strides by registering two cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. In a span of just one week, the police arrested three individuals involved in the supply of drugs to students.

Acting on tips received on October 16, 2023, and October 18, 2023, from reliable sources, a special team led by Inspector Girish Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Aberdeen, launched consecutive raids. The operation was carried out with the support of Head Constable Vinod Kumar, Head Constable Nakul Halder, and Police Constables S.N. Rao, Jayraj, Naw Elieen, Jagdish Babu, S.S. Yadav, and B. Kumar Swamy.

The first raid, conducted on October 16, 2023, on Dean Street, Junglighat, led to the apprehension of an auto driver who was a resident of the area. During the raid, the team confiscated 6.93 grams of Methamphetamine and more than ₹3 lakh in cash. The accused individual was promptly arrested, and charges were filed against them under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Subsequently, another suspect from Little Andaman was also taken into custody.

The second raid unfolded on October 18, 2023, near the Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Port Blair. The police acted swiftly based on credible information suggesting that a college student was arriving with a substantial quantity of Methamphetamine for sale. Upon her arrival, the young woman was intercepted, and a search revealed 61 grams of Methamphetamine and ₹27,000 in cash in her possession, along with her bike.

The investigations into these cases are being led by Sub-Inspectors P. Jeevan and Abhishek Halder, under the close supervision of Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS. The police are actively working to establish both the forward and backward linkages to trace the complete supply chain involved in the distribution of drugs.
