National Science Day is being celebrated across the country on Saturday to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel Laureate Sir C. V. Raman. Observed annually on February 28, the day seeks to promote scientific temper and foster awareness about the importance of science and innovation among the masses.

The occasion serves as a tribute to the remarkable contributions of Indian scientists and aims to inspire students and the general public to cultivate curiosity and interest in scientific research and technological advancements. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat,” highlighting the pivotal role of women in driving India’s scientific progress and nation-building.

To mark the occasion in a befitting manner, the Science Centre at Sri Vijaya Puram organized a series of educational and interactive programmes as part of its week-long Science Week celebrations. A large number of students from various schools participated enthusiastically in the events, showcasing creativity, innovation, and a keen scientific spirit.

A valedictory function to felicitate the winners of the competitions will be held at 4 PM today at the Auditorium of the Science Centre.
