Skill Development Training in Handicrafts Concludes at Kanyapuram Panchayat

A 15-day short-term skill development training program on handicrafts, organized by the Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration, concluded successfully at Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat on Sunday. The training, which ran from April 16 to May 5, 2025, focused on crafts using coconut shell, wood, cane, and bamboo.

A total of 35 participants took part in the program, acquiring practical skills and knowledge aimed at promoting self-employment and enhancing local craftsmanship. The initiative sought to empower rural artisans with market-relevant techniques to strengthen the local economy.

The valedictory function was attended by several dignitaries, including Mr. P Abdul Basheer, Pradhan of Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat, Dr. Manoharan, Deputy Education Officer, and noted social worker Mr. M.B. Abdul Rashid, among others.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Basheer commended the Directorate of Industries for aligning the training with local market demands and providing participants with the necessary tools for sustainable livelihoods.

Mr. Rathinder Nath, Assistant Director (Tech), Directorate of Industries, outlined various government schemes supporting skill development, MSME promotion, and employment generation across the Islands.

The A&N Administration reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing local talent and expanding skill-building opportunities to empower communities and drive inclusive growth.
